PROMOTIONAL MODELING

PROMOTIONAL MODELING

Promotional modeling shares very little with fashion modeling or print modeling, but it does require energetic, attractive people in a near endless variety of product or corporate-sponsored temporary events. Promotional modeling usually involves distributing free product samples or promotional information on site and can sometimes involve elaborate costumes.

Work as a promotional model is mostly seasonal at venues like sporting events, music concerts, seasonal festivals and local retail outlets like car dealerships and shopping malls. If you can smile and interact with the public in a positive manner, promotional modeling might be right for you.

Most candidates for promotional modeling include young men and women between the ages of 18 and 30 who are able to maintain a positive outlook and energy for long hours on the job. Most corporate clients sponsoring the events and hiring the models attempt to promote positive attention to their firms by employing friendly, personable people as models or spokespersons. Employment in promotional modeling is part-time and usually runs about $15 to $25 an hour. The downside is that promotional modeling jobs are not year-round employment. The upside is flexible scheduling and not having to travel far from home.

Good looks and a healthy appearance are not the ultimate requirement in promotional modeling. Successful promotional models are generally conventionally “good looking” people who can appear fresh all day without the need for extensive make-up application. Good manners and clear speech are big assets in representing the client company professionally. You won’t get rich in promotional modeling, but you can make reasonable money with seasonal employment in the field.
