BEAUTY TIPS for models

Dressing up for an evening out is not hard. Irresistible party clothes complemented by simple make-up and hassle free hair is all you need to create an evening look, advises you to wear make-up that looks simple, feminine and, most importantly, realistic.

Make New start :
Wash your face either by using a face wash or with clean water. Dab the face with tissue paper. Cover your face with a little moisturiser and wait for it to dry. Apply a concealer to hide spots and dark circles. Dot thin coats of concealer in the inner circle under the eye, around the lips and other dark skin area. The concealer should be one or two coats lighter than the foundation, otherwise the face will look heavy. And make sure you apply it only where needed.

Choose a foundation :
To match your skin tone. Using the right foundation makes your skin look flawless and smooth. To achieve perfect precision one must blend well. Use an oil-free foundation, starting at the centre of your face, blend it carefully with a slightly damp sponge all over the face, especially the chin, around the nostrils and under the jaw-line. Foundation blended well on the jaw-line avoids demarcation lines. Set it with translucent or compact powder for a matte and refined finish.

Eyeshadows -
accentuate eyes, making them look bigger and brighter. Use an eyeshadow that compliments the colour of your eyes. Apply eyeshadow right over the eyelid. Draw a thin line of eyeliner on your upper lid, close to the lashes. Use a soft tipped eye pencil over the line for a smudgy effect. Apply mascara in an upward and outward manner. To make your lashes look thicker, powder them before the first layer of mascara is dry. Then apply the second coat. For defined lashes use lash comb and curler.

Even the prettiest of make-up looks unfinished without blusher. It adds life and glow to every skin colour. Use powder blush or tinting powder. Dust the blusher right on the apple of your checks with a large brush patches, so blend it outwards with a big brush in semi-circular motions. Do not go close to the nose.

Now on to your lips -
To give your lips a luscious look first draw the outline of your lips with a lip pencil. Line them with a neutral colour. Blend inward to prevent the lipstick from bleeding. Use a lip brush to apply the lipstick. Powder your lips after the first coat to prevent it from fading. Apply a second coat of lipstick. And finally use lip gloss on the centre of your lower lip to give that sexy pout look.

About Hair -
Always complete the make up first and then do the hairstyle. Your hair should have texture and shine without stiffness for an easy and sexy style. Avoid using hair spray. If you have long and straight hair it is best to leave them open. Wash your hair with a shampoo first and then use a good conditioner. Keep it for ten minutes and then wash it with cold water. Avoid backcombing for long hair. When dry, brush it well in an outward direction using a soft brush.

We can try different hairstyles if you have short or mid-length hair. Do not wash your hair on the same day if you want to style them. For a sleeker looks, toss your hair completely back and make a neat low bun or tie a topknot. To create side strings take a few hair from each side, wet them and pin up. After ten minutes carefully remove the pin and let the strings loose. To make it last longer use little hairspray. Hair ornaments and accessories could be included to create a different look. Pamper yourself with them and make a pretty statement.

Besides needing the physical requirement to be a model you also need a personality for it. Professional modelling is a tough business. Only certain people can stand up to the hard work schedule and stress that Modelling demands. So these are some good traits for a model?

1) Like the Show - When you hear, 'It's show time' or 'Time for magic' do you come alive? If you love performing and being in front of an audience, whether it's a room full of people or the eye of the camera, you will enjoy modelling. If it is something you enjoy you are more apt to work hard at it, take greater risk, and work through the hardships that come along. If you love the work, you will love your life. If you hate the work, you'll be miserable.

2) Hard Working - Modelling takes a lot of hard work and stamina. A photo shoot can run as long as 16 hours and at all times of the day & night. Just getting a job can have you running all over town. And at the end of the day you still have to do all the stuff needed to keep you in shape and looking beautiful.

3) Projection - You need to be able to project your personality, your charisma, your charm, and your sex appeal. You need to be able to sell yourself to be able to sell the product.

4) Intelligent - There is a lot to learn about Modelling, being an independent business person, about yourself and about surviving in a big world of sharks. If you can't learn it fast you could get eaten alive.

5) Friendly Thinking - You will be constantly meeting new people and walking into new situations. You will be performing before strangers every day. You need to like new experiences, challenges, and meeting new people. If you are shy and reserved you will forever be uncomfortable in Modelling.

6) Good Self Esteem - Ok, so it doesn't hurt to be a little bit of an egomaniac. This industry is a real ego bruiser. Good self-esteem can help pick you up and get you through those tough times.

7) Ambition - For most, careers in Modelling won't come easy. You will have to go through trials and tribulations before you achieve success. The ambition and desire to succeed and achieve your goals in Modelling will help you get over the temporary set backs that come along.

8) Self-Starter - As a model you are an independent businessperson in charge of your own career. You must be able to take charge of youself. This includes your training, your physical upkeep, your professional practices, your finances, and your life.

9) Full Control - You need to be able to control your health (size and fitness), your body for posing, your emotions for acting them out, and your life sothat you show up on time.

10) Organized - You have to keep track of your schedule, your finances, your modelling materials, and your body's up keep.

Modeling RULES

Modelling is perhaps the most difficult of professions, because you are judged on both, on your performance AND your looks. There are many simple things you can do which will help you become professional and successful (and therefore leading to more jobs and requests.

* Weight is ALWAYS an issue with models. While you should not be anorexic, you need to maintain desired weight levels and exercise on a daily basis to keep muscles toned.

* Along with exercise, one should also maintain proper healthy eating habits. This includes lots of fruits and vegetables as well as laying off the fats and snacks. Also avoid caffeine, smoking, alcohol, and other substances which will deplete your energy and health.

* Don't change your looks before a job! Avoid last minute perms, colorings, or haircuts unless you are specifically instructed to do so. Longer hair is almost always preferred on models because it is more versatile (you can make long hair look short, but you can't make short hair look long)

* Avoid wearing make-up except for actual jobs and interviews. Make-up of any kind blocks up pores in the skin leading to unhealthy skin (and sometimes acne and pimples). Bath a couple times a day and use appropriate skin care products to keep your skin as healthy as possible.

* Avoid the sun! Getting sunburned is not only bad for your career but it's also unhealthy. Along thou, tan lines are nearly impossible to cover up with make-up. It's much easier to get a pale looking model to look tan than it is to get a tan looking model to look pale. If you feel the need to look "tan," use high quality self-tanning products which "color" your skin rather than tan it. The key is to apply it evenly (often you need help with this) and you need to stand around nude until the product is completely dry.

* All models need professional manicures and pedicures to keep their nails in great shape.

* Be CAREFUL! Bruises, scars, scratches (and worse yet, tattoos and piercings) wreck your product (your body). Always remember that you body is your "product" and keep it in as pristine shape as possible.

* Women (and men depending on the project) should shave or wax unwanted body hair a day before the job. This will give enough time to allow any red marks to fade. When shaving, always shave in the same direction that the hair is laying down. If you shave "against the grain" you'll end up cutting the hair off below the surface of the skins, and you'll have "razor burn" as the ingrown hair tries to force a new hole through the skin for itself.

* Always arrive at each job freshly bathed and showered. Hair should not only be shampooed but also conditioned to give it more body and "height.". Bring your own curling irons, hair spray, combs, brushes, etc. that you'll need for your hair.

* If you will be posing in revealing clothing such as lingerie or swim wear, come to the photo session wearing loose fitting clothing and no socks or underwear. Anything that presses on the body creates reddish "pressure marks" which take up to an hour to go away. If you have a shoot like this, do not wear any tight clothing or clothing with elastic in it for roughly 12 hours before the shoot.

* Practice walking, posing, and depicting different facial expressions/moods on a regular basis.

* Pick out clothing ahead of time which will give you a variety of looks and which flatter your figure/physique. Avoid distracting patterns which lead the viewer's eye away from you. All black or all white outfits are always good choices. Similarly, clothing with simple and classic "lines" also are beneficial. It's best to bring a much wider selection of clothes than what you will need so that the photographers and have choices to pick out what they feel will work best.

Sexual harassment in modeling and in photo shoots

How Guys Can Avoid Sexual Advances from Gay Model Agents

Note: This article deals with some explicit information some people may find taboo. We offer this information because we are certain college guys who become involved in professional male modeling will encounter some of the predatory practices described here.

Play It Smart by Keeping Quiet

Never tell an agent that he is not gonna get in your pants. Don't accuse him. Simply make intelligent choices that help your career. You need not tell anyone your opinions. Avoid allowing yourself to fail "the test." Concentrate on your career until you can become established and sign on with a new agent who sees you as a moneymaking resource, not an object to manipulate. After you become an established male model, always leave an agent whose priority is sex.

Don't Respond to Sexual Comments

Often the agent's first step toward seducing a guy is to start making flirtatious comments. These may include comments about how good-looking you are, about your penis size, your sexual prowess, or asking to see you without your clothing. These conversations may begin after being asked if you have a girlfriend and about what you do with your girlfriend in bed. The agent is "feeling you out" by seeking your response to his comments. After you chuckle at more and more of his comments, the agent may feel comfortable asking if he can give you oral sex. It's best to politely avoid these discussions from the start.

Don't Fail the Test. Avoid the Test!

The single, best way to be successful and avoid manipulation when first starting out in male modeling is to not put yourself in a situation where a sexual advance can be made toward you. When you allow your relationship with an agent to change from a professional one to more personal, you enter a new stage that may force you to turn him down and end your male modeling career. A personal stage can be when the agent takes you to dinner, or shows you more attention than he shows other male models. If you allow him an opportunity to make a sexual advance toward you, and you turn him down, your career may end. So, it is best to avoid the advance altogether by not getting too close to an agent. If the advance was never made, there is nothing to turn down! Still, this can be pretty tricky. You must thwart the agent's plans without him knowing you know what he is up to! Avoid being alone with agents in a nonprofessional setting. When visiting an agency in another city, never accept an offer to stay at an agent's home, but do not let them know why you are not staying at his home. Tell him "Maybe next time," but this time you are staying with some good friends you know who live in his city. And just book a cheap hotel!

Don't make him think he has a chance

Never flirt / joke with agents or lead them on in any way. Be businesslike. Your looks and pleasant personality will get you the job. Don't talk to them like you would talk to a girl. You know what flirting is. Its what you do with women. It could backfire with a well-seasoned agent who has seduced many, many college guys before you came along!

Don't let him know he has does Not have a chance

It is better to avoid making statements aimed to establish your sexuality. Why should you discuss whom you sleep with? Is your sex life relevant to a photo shoot? First, don't assume telling others that you have a girlfriend will mean they will not be interested in you. Many male models who trade sexual activity for jobs have girlfriends. Plus, your claims of being heterosexual may make you even more of an attractive conquest to a agent who's biggest thrill is to seduce a heterosexual man. Many believe those college guys "who protest too much" may actually have gay tendencies they wish to hide by overcompensating. However right or wrong this logic may be, the opposite of your intent may be the result when you talk too much about being straight.

Get Reliable Info from Established male models

Agents are creatures of habit. The ploys they may try on you are the same they tried with another guy years ago. Talk to other male models and try to learn which agents are untrustworthy and what their tactics are. That way you will be ready if a ploy is tried on you. Don't assume the male model you talk to did not succumb to the agent's advances. If the male model is atill working, he may have let the agent give them oral sex. You can also find out the name of a more ethical agent by asking other male models.

Don't Be Homophobic

If an agent believes that you are vocal about disliking gays, he may cease all business with you because he predicts that you will offend his clients (who hire male models, and many of who are also gay) or because he concludes he will not have a chance to seduce you. If his main goal is to obtain sex, why should he pursue someone with whom he is certain to fail? He'll move onto more available prey. If you want to earn money, why do you care if it comes from gay guys? Just take the money and keep your unpopular opinions to yourself!

Still Interested?

If you are still interested in becoming a male model, now you know some valuable theories that you can use to protect yourself and further your career. If the idea of working with unethical agents is too much for you, consider the time you save by choosing another career. Still, with some diligent street smarts, you can be successful and avoid being sexually harassed.

Here are some tips:

* Never bring your parents, friends or girlfriends when visiting an agent professionally. Be independent.
* If you are invited to a party at an agent's home, try to attend with another male model, or a group of friends.
* Never make anti-gay statements to an agent or to other male models, never discuss the subject. Being heterosexual does not mean you must hate gays.
* Never assume other male models you meet are straight.
* Never accuse an agent of being unscrupulous. Assume everyone is ethical until they prove you wrong.
* Avoid becoming close to an agent and discussing your personal life with an agent. Never discuss what you do in bed.

QUICK TIPS for models

Quick tips for young models to help them kickstart their professional career.

- If you have any skin or hair problems, get rid of them beforehand, preferably consulting beauty specialists.

- Make sure your body stays fit and well groomed. If you are overweight or experience any other problems, attend a swimming pool or a fitness-center.

- Try to get a closer look at modeling world. Flip through magazines, watch fashion show reports, etc. Try to talk to established models if you can, but remember that their opinions are purely personal and are not necessarily correct.

- Determine how much time you can devote to modeling, if you must attend to other activities (study, job, etc). Determine if you are willing to relocate to another city or country for a period of time.

Relationship with Your Agency

- Modeling agencies are divided into two categories depending on specialization of models that they represent:

- full-service, representing models of various specifications;

- specialized agencies, representing models of a certain specializations (plus-size, body-part, etc).

- Agencies can also be divided into those who hold their own model database and those who are purely mediators.

- When signing up with the agency, make sure you discuss every aspect of your relationship and the types of jobs that you agree to perform.

- Always maintain constant connection with your agency. Keep your agency informed of all the changes in your life (relocations, family status, vacations out of town, etc).

- If you plan a visit to your agency, please call to agree on the best suitable time.

- If you plan to change your looks, consulting your agency is mandatory.

- Always maintain good ethics in your behavior and opinions when communicating with other models and agency representatives.

Casting and Jobs

- Clothes you wear to casting shouldn’t be bright, multicolored or branded

- The same concerns bikini castings. You should wear a two-piece, monochrome bikini.

- Make sure your body is well-groomed, your hair clean, it is advisable to have your nails painted with colorless nail-polish, when attending a casting.

- You should visit cosmetologist 3 or 4 days before the casting. Your skin may not have enough time to adapt.

- If this is your first casting don’t walk in first and try not to show up last, watch other models and see how they act.

- Try to join models whose height matches yours.

- If you get a job offering, clarify all issues concerning payment and your job requirements.

- If a job you’re offered doesn’t suit you for any reason, refuse at once providing well-based explanations.

- If you experience any problems during your job, consult your agency. Don’t make any decisions without careful consideration.

- You should come to work makeup-less, with clean hair and no nail polish.

A Model’s Handbag

- Always take a make-up kit, a shawl, a make-up removal lotion, and hair-clips to a job or a casting. You will be working with a make-up artist, but sometimes you may be allergic to his cosmetics.

- It is advisable to take an extra pair of beige and black-colored lingerie, maybe a robe and a towel.

- Buy a modeling notebook to keep track of your casting schedule, jobs, financial calculations, etc.

- Your deodorant should be scentless and leave no marks.

- Always carry a needle with black and white threads with you.

Relationship with Client

- If you are offered to perform a type or amount of work which hasn’t been previously agreed upon, you should politely explain that it hasn’t been mentioned in your contract and call your agency to clarify the situation. Don’t make any independent decisions. It may harm your career, your reputation and your agency.

-You may receive conflicting instructions from different people during your work. Do not worry or argue – this is a creative process. Try maintaining good humor and reacting to different situations calmly.Never accept direct payment from the client if it hasn’t been agreed beforehand with your agency.

- Refuse if the client offers you to work directly in future. You are signed up with the agency and it should handle all your contracts. Otherwise, you may get into in tacky situations.

- Don’t leave your phone numbers or other contact information to clients or any other third parties.

Contracts and Finances

You may come across the following types of contracts:

- Exclusive modeling contract (the model is obliged to cooperate only with one certain agency)

- Open contract (the model has the right to cooperate with several agencies at the same time)

- One-time contract (the deal which is signed to perform a certain one time job or project)

- In you have any doubts, get a lawyer’s advice concerning contract items.

- A contract should cover all the financial conditions, the type of work, the expiration date and the obligations of parties.

- If you want to end the contract make sure you have no financial obligations before your agency or any additional contracts for any jobs or projects. Otherwise you may have to pay a one-time compensation for disruption of work.

- If you do not hold a contract with the agency or are holding an open contract and are in for a serious project or job, you should sign a one-time agreement covering a job type, an amount and a time of payment. That is a regular procedure and legitimate agencies won’t be evading it.

- A contract allows you to solve emerging problems by legal means.

- If you are in debt with the agency try to cover it with your first royalties so that you won’t have any financial obligations in future.

Portfolio

- Always carry a copy of your portfolio with you.

- Take new shoots every six months.

- If you want to obtain professional photos, refrain from using pictures taken by “friends” or photographers with shady reputation.

- Try to keep track of the way your agency uses your photos. The agency has no right to use your photos without your consent, if your contract doesn’t indicate otherwise.

- Don’t forget to update your portfolio with tests, demonstration photos, ads, interviews, etc.

- Don’t sign any deals with photographers or any third parties without your agency’s permission.

RUNWAY modeling tips

RUNWAY MODELING TIPS

When it comes to runway modeling tips, you must realize one thing... YOU ARE A HUMAN COAT HANGER!

Runway modeling tips picYour purpose on the runway, is to display the designers clothes.

The second thing you need to realize when runway modeling is that this is a really good opportunity to get good exposure and future bookings.

So in order for you to A) Be a good coat hanger and B) Get exposed and get future bookings, have compiled a list of runway modeling tips for you to study.

The best runway modeling tip to give though, is that you should watch professional models on the runway. Recording a runway show would be best because then you can go over it time and time again.

Although watching these tapes many times may help, you still may miss a few important runway modeling details. So we have outlined what you would probably not notice just by watching.

These also happen to be the things that most models mess up on and don't know. Your agent should teach you these, but they will be very pleased if you appear to already be a "natural".

Runway modeling tips #1: Eyes

Your eyes should be focused straight ahead of you. Looking off into the distance. Just find something on the back wall and focus on it.

WARNING: There will be bright lights aimed at you! Do not try and focus on a light unless you want to go blind and walk right over the ledge of the runway, because all you can see is the after image of the light bulb.

Runway modeling tips #2: Chin

Your chin should be down slightly while runway modeling. The reason for this is because every one will be sitting, looking up at you.

There will be many photographers taking pictures aimed up at you. So for your exposure aspect, you want to have good pictures taken of you so that they can be reused in magazines. You can then take these and add them to your portfolio.

Runway modeling tips #3: Shoulders

They shouldn't move much at all.

Your shoulders need to stay still as you walk. This can take a little getting used to but will not take long.

Runway modeling tips #4: Arms

A lot of models, when learning runway modeling, tend to swing their arms way too much. Your arms should only swing as much as your body makes them.

With men and women it is a little bit different of a swing. The reason for the difference is how a man takes his steps. His step will cause his whole arm to swing more while a woman's steps will cause her arms to swing more from her elbows down.

Next time you watch a model runway modeling, watch and see how their lower arm is doing most of the swinging.

Tip for WOMEN: Concentrate on keeping your upper arm in close and somewhat tight to your body. This will ensure that only the bottom half swings.

MEN: All you need to do is just let them swing naturally. Don't assist them at all.

Runway modeling tips #5: Hands

Now hands are surprisingly quite important while runway modeling.

Here's why: Say you are walking down the runway with your arms at your side. Then someone for a fashion magazine take an awesome picture of you.

Now this is a good picture! Everything looks perfect, until they look at you hands! Why? Because you, like most people, had your fingers curled in and up slightly.

So what's wrong with that you ask? You have no fingers!!!! At least in the picture it will look like you have no fingers! Like they all got chopped off!

Always remember to have your hands open with your fingers nearly totally straightened. Not totally straight (you don't want to look like a robot), but out enough to be visible.

Runway modeling tips #6: Legs

Legs refers to walking. Men just need to walk natural. The only difference is that you take longer strides. So instead of having 1.5 feet in between your strides increase it to 2.5 to 3 feet.

The main point is to take long strides without making it look unnatural.

Women need to also take longer strides, but they need to walk with one foot in front of the other. This causes their hips to sway, which gives their arms the swing that was described in the arms section.

Runway modeling tips #7: Posture

This is fairly basic runway modeling tip. Stand straight up, with your shoulders back. No hunching! That looks insecure and disgusting.

Although this is all important, it can change from designer to designer. But, the main key is confidence. When you have that, everything else just falls into place.

Modeling schools

Learning the Business Through Schools for Models

Modeling schools are also good places to learn about the industry. Although most open casting calls are reputable, a fair number are not.

Many young, naive would-be models get taken advantage of by unscrupulous talent agents willing to do anything to make a buck.

They are paid less than their time is worth or ripped off entirely, and often leave with nothing for their troubles but a wasted day. Modeling schools prevent models of falling into the clutches of people like that in the first place.

Of course, a good modeling agency will help you out as well as modeling schools will. The great thing about modeling agents is that they handle the business side of things for you.

When my friend Chandra first became a professional model, she knew nothing at all about the business. Fortunately, it did not matter. Her agent set up modeling shoots for her, negotiated contracts, helped her set up a good portfolio of shots, and much more.

Basically, all that she had to do was show up for her shoots. He even helped to coach her in how to make a good impression on modeling photographers. He knew which models wanted lists were reputable, and which weren't and had all the industry contacts anyone would need.

After a while, of course, she had to make some of her own deals and contacts. Nevertheless, her agent provided her with those first crucial introductions that were required.

Modeling Agents

Modeling agents are a must for anyone interested in a career as a model. I have been modeling for three years now, and let me tell you, the greatest mistake I ever made is responding to a blind casting call instead of first consulting a modeling agent.

Regarding Model Scams

Watch out for scams! This is something everyone on this planet should know about and be wary of. Our world is overflowing with scam artists and crooks. Don't be surprised if you encounter a few in life. Use common sense and the "If it sounds too good to be true..." rule and you should be okay.

So, now you know a bit more about modeling schools, agencies and scams so it's time to get out there and start your career!

Naked Truth about modeling

Fashion Models - What do You Expect? A Fashion Model tells the Naked Truth

When you think about fashion modeling, what do you think of first? Unbridled love? Fame? Money? Wearing outrageous and expensive clothing for major dress designers? Which aspects of fashion modeling are important, which are essential, and which ones can you take or leave?

This fashion model says she is a good judge

If there was one thing about my life that has surprised me so far, it is becoming a fashion model.

You see, I have always been very independent. I never put a lot of energy into my dress because I don't really care that much how people look at me. If all they see is what I am wearing then I'm content not to be their friend.
The Attitudes of Fashion Models

As you could probably guess, this is not the attitude most common among fashion models. Fashion models love clothing, and obsess about body image. I just happen to be gifted with a thin body and a winning smile which, combined with my sensational sense of poise, is enough to get a fashion modeling job.

Wanting to be a Fashion Model vs. Becoming One

None of the really good clothes models that I know set out to do it. People who set out to become clothing models rarely have what it takes. They are too obsessed with the way people look at them, too driven to be liked, and in general to needy. In the short term, these types of fashion models can be very successful, but over the longer run they tend to burn out.

These girls are the ones who fall victim to all of the pitfalls of the fashion model world. They get into drugs or end up in the hospital with a bad case of anorexia or bulimia. Whatever the case, they are not the runway fashion models who are remembered for years to come.

Now that you have listened to this much of the fashion modeling story, let's find out what happens next.

If you need love, buy a dog

The problem is that you need such thick skin to look for modeling jobs. I was lucky and stumbled into a modeling job, but this is not usually the case. There are literally tens of thousands of fashion models competing for a fraction as many jobs.

Don't get me wrong - if you stick around for long enough, one gig or another will come around - but it is seldom enough to pay the bills.

Self Esteem and the Fashion Model

The real tragedy of it is that a lot of fashion models have their sense of self-esteem tied to whether or not they are accepted into these jobs. Not only do they put their lives on hold while they look for fashion model jobs, but their self-esteem suffers each and every day.

Fashion modeling may look like a glamorous career from the outside, but in reality life is not that fantastic for fashion models. If you are a needy young woman and want people to respect you for who you are, find some other way to boost your self-esteem!

It never hurts to be well-informed with the latest on fashion modeling. Don't believe everything you hear and compare what you have learned here to future articles by other fashion models so that you can stay alert to changes in the entertainment industry.

Want to become a FASHION MODEL?

Would you like to become a fashion model, but you have no idea what this type of model does? Let me tell you a little about fashion models. Their photos appear in magazines and catalogues to promote clothing or other accessories to customers and fashion buyers.

If you are confident, aggressive, intelligent, resistant to peer pressure and willing to listen and learn, you have many of the traits that may help you to become a successful fashion model.

But, before you get started in fashion modeling, please consider reading the tips below.

1. Talk To Others Who've Been There Already

Talk to someone you know that is already involved in the modeling world. Ask them about the following:

* How Do You Avoid Scams?
* How Do You Choose The Right Photographer?
* Should You Go To Modeling School?
* How Important Is A Portfolio?
* What Is Open Call?

Knowing the answers to these few questions will help you tremendously in making your decision about becoming a fashion model.

2. See What Other Fashion Models And Designers Are Doing

Look at fashion magazines to see what the latest styles are. Read and learn as much as you can about fashion designers. Research every aspect on the Internet about this industry.

Do You Want A Full Or Part Time Career As A Fashion Model?

Guide to modeling poses

6 Tips to Learning Good Modeling Poses

As an aspiring young model, you've probably heard many times that no matter how you pose or what facial expressions you give, your photographs will turn out naturally beautiful.

But, remember there is one thing you need to always keep in mind. No matter how gorgeous you are, without the right modeling poses, your pictures will never be perfect.

Even though, there are a few female models who have the instinctive competence to pose spontaneously in front of a camera, most have to be taught proper model posing techniques.

This is where a good professional photographer comes into the picture. They will give you many invaluable tips on how to model pose. Some of these may be as follows:

1. Model Posing Breathing Technique

Keep in mind how relaxed you look when you breathe naturally, so never hold your breath for a model pose.

2. Correct Posture Is A Must For Good Modle Poses

When model posing, always keep your shoulders up and your back straight. Remember to flex your stomach muscles so your abdomen will appear more toned.

Bad posture is an imperfection many of us have, but it is a pitfall for models.

3. Bend Those Body Parts When You Model Pose

The placement of your arms and legs can either add to a photo or take away. So always make sure one arm or leg is bent, while the other one is straight when doing model poses.

4. Model Poses For Sitting

Model posing while sitting is very important and sometimes requires a lot of work. But, it will be worth it once you get that slimming effect by putting your weight on the back of one thigh.

5. Use Different Facial Expressions For Modeling Poses

It's great to have a beautiful smile, but just don't show those beautiful white teeth in every photo.

Add a variety to your model poses by creating different facial expressions such as a scowl, frown and maybe even a little laugh.

6. Great Model Posers Sometimes Look Away From the Camera

Never look directly into the camera unless the photographer tells you to.

You will be amazed at the great variety of model poses you gain from looking to the side or tilting your head.

Now when your modeling photographer asks you what ideas do you have for model poses, you'll know what he is talking about and can surprise him or her with all the knowledge you have gained from these model pose tips. Okay, get in front of the camera and show your stuff!!

how to become a MODEL

Being a model is grueling and takes a lot of hard work. Even with the hard work, modeling doesn't mean you'll make it. We've put together some realistic advice to help you make it happen.

First you'll need to realize that there are certain qualities that every model needs to have. Depending on the type of model you want to become, you will need to be in generally good health. Clear skin, healthy hair and attractive features are a must. Other qualities such as height and weight will play a role in your career depending on what type of modeling you pursue. There are several exercise programs designed for models that help build your body for modeling.

You'll also need to decide what kind of model you want to be. Anyone who wants to be a model can do it, but unless you possess the basic requirements, you will find that there is very little work available to you. If you don't look like the runway models you see on television and in print, you might want to try different types of modeling.

If you're a tall person, very thin, with small breasts, you might want to consider pursuing a career as a catwalk model. If you’re more full-figured and curvy, you might be a good candidate for plus size modeling. If you have large breasts but don't have wide hips, you might look for work as an underwear model. If you don't fit any of the typical model body or face descriptions, you might want to consider auditioning for foot, hand, or hair modeling.

Plan on getting photos done. Your first photos do not need to be professionally done but they should be made for the purpose of showing your ability as a model. Most agencies don't mind snapshots, but they will want the snapshots to be focused and serious. At a minimum, you should have one very nice headshot and one very nice body shot. Take a lot of photos and decide on our favorites. Next you'll need to get prints of the photos. You'll need carry 8x10 photos in case you're asked to leave one at an audition or interview. These will be fine until you are able to get professional photos done. Save these photos and don't try to give them away or distribute them. Remember, these are not professional photos and you'll probably do much better once you have professional photos done.

Another good idea is to look up a reputable modeling agency. You can find reputable modeling agencies by searching the internet. You can also usually find them in your local phonebook. Either way, it's a good idea to research the agency you choose just to be on the safe side. When you go to your appointment with the modeling agency it's important to be prepared. You might be asked to show different facial expressions and should be prepared. Practice different faces at home in the mirror so that if you are asked to perform, you will be comfortable and ready.

Lastly, be prepared to accept rejection and criticism. It is important that you accept rejection and criticism politely. Be professional and polite and, of course, be timely. All these tips along with your passion for modeling and you commitment to succeeding should ensure that you have a positive modeling experience and possibly a great modeling career.
